Day 1: ARRIVAL IN FLORENCE -GUIDED WALKING TOUR OF THE HISTORIC CENTRE AND VISIT TO THE MUSEUM OF THE OPERA DEL DUOMO
Group is welcomed at point of arrival, accompanied to 4-star hotel and settled into accommodation.
Later, an official guide leads a short panoramic walking tour throughout the city centre to discover the key historic and artistic sites: the tour of the Duomo complex includes the enormous dome built by Brunelleschi, the Baptistry and and Giotto’s bell tower; the walk then proceeds to the Museum of the Opera del Duomo, that keeps the original ‘Gates of Paradise’ and the Pietà Bandini by Michelangelo.
Dinner in a restaurant in the city centre. Return to the hotel.
Day 2: FIESOLE VESPA TOUR
Breakfast in the hotel.
AM: walk to the Vespa rental. After a short explanation of their riding, departure to Fiesole, guided by the tour leader. Visit with official guide of the Museum of Archaeology and of the Roman and Etruscan excavation inFiesole, the only place around Florence where is still possible to admire some ruins of the Roman town in the open air.
Still riding the Vespa, the itinerary goes on toward the Castle of Vincigliata, enchanted place where, after the visit of the inner rooms, the lunch will take place with tasting of local wine, sliced meats and a selection of cheese (vegetarian menu also available upon request).
PM: By Vespa again, the tour proceeds to the Church of San Martino a Mensola, extarordinarily open; then the path goes back to Florence along the via del Salviatino, sorrounded by some breathtaking panoramas more of the town and of parks of famous private villas.
Return to the hotel. Dinner in a restaurant in the city centre.
Day 3: THE FLORENTINE ‘OLTRARNO’, CHURCHES AND ARTISANS
Breakfast in the hotel.
AM: meeting with guide for the visit to the Brancacci chapel with the frescoes by Masolino and Masaccio, very early beginning of the Renaissance painting in Florence, and to the Church of Santo Spirito, designed by Brunelleschi, that houses a wooden Crucifixion by young Michelangelo.
This walk through the Oltrarno is the opportunity to visit some craft workshops, among them a silversmith and a carpenter, who will show the secrets of some traditional techniques -still used so far, and to have a break to taste a great coffee or cappuccino in a typical cafeteria.
Lunch in a typical restaurant in the city centre.
Return to pick up point.
